Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Attends Niger Delta Development Commission Stakeholders Summit Held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Friday, 12th July 2024, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong attended the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit organized by the NDDC. The objective of the event was to bring together leaders of the region to analyse our challenges and forge a path towards achieving sustainable development. It was an all-encompassing retreat chaired by the former President, His Excellency Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, it was a great pleasure having both President Bola Tinubu and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, serve as Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectively. It underlined the commitment of all arms of Government to sustain the current tempo and achieve a lasting peace in the Niger Delta.

The Summit attracted several serving and former government officials, as well as heads of National security, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. The presence of the Defence Chief was particularly instructive as conversations were held around articulating a roadmap for economic growth and development of the region by utilising a community-based security architecture approach.
