Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Speaks at The Conference of Niger Delta Ethnic Nationality Organized By NDDC in Port Harcourt

On Tuesday the 30th of July, 2024, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong attended the conference of Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities in Port Harcourt. In my remarks, He encouraged the young people of the Niger Delta to shun violence and embrace dialogue..

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong highlighted the fact that with a youthful population of over 130 million, the youth are the fulcrum of our economy.

While acknowledging that the reforms being implemented by the President Tinubu led administration are causing pain to our citizens in the short term, He remain optimistic that the long term effects of these policies will be the creation of a prosperous Nation.

In the short to medium term, however, policies such as the new minimum wage act, the education loan fund, and the Youth investment fund, among many others, will act as a bridge to the prosperous society we desire. These initiatives will be matched by the Youth internship program driven by the NDDC, which intends to provide monthly financial support to 10,000 Niger Delta youth in the first phase..

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong concluded by stating that the 10th Senate, led by H.E. Godswill Akpabio, is committed to providing the requisite legislative backing and support to policies that will lead to economic growth and development of our country as a whole, and the Niger Delta in particular. Additionally, the Senate and House committees of the NDDC, led by Chairmen in their 30s, will be at the forefront of this mission.
