There is nothing like new or old APC, Asuquo Ekpenyong Tells Legacy APC Group as he Consults them for Governorship

Cross River State APC gubernatorial hopeful, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong on Monday disclosed that his intention of having a united and strong party is sacrosanct.

Ekpenyong stated this while addressing Legacy Members of All Progressives Congress (APC) during a breakfast meeting in Calabar . He also used the opportunity to Consult them for his gubernatorial ambition under the platform of the APC.

“What transpired between party members during the Ward, Chapter and State Congresses was purely internal party wrangling which our Leader, His Excellency Senator Prof Ben Ayade in his magnanimity resolved the issues and assured foundation members of the Party of a place in his government, and this was immediately translated to the recent appointments both in the State and the Federal level.

“I’m assuring you that my intention of a united and strong party is still on. I will ensure that the effort of His Excellency, Senator Prof Ben Ayade in uniting this party as one indispensable family is sustained even beyond our imagination. I call on you to support me in uniting the party by ensuring that you admit more people into your fold including new members.

APC is solid in Cross River State, it is the strongest party in Nigeria. “And we assure you that APC is still one, what happened in the past is mere controversy among children of the same parents.“We invite even those who are not here to come together so that we will continue to build a solid political party that will win all elective positions in the State.

“Today I formally present myself to seek the mandate of this great party to contest for Governorship 2023. I’m here before you because you are not just old APC members but Foundation Members of our great party. I offer myself for the service. Send me please; said the Former Finance Commissioner.

He went further to reveal his private sector experience and investment over the years to the party faithfuls. According to him this was vital because if one or two persons take advantage of our Industries and invest heavily the end point result is the common man who benefits more from such investment as it will go along way to create jobs outside civil service.

Barr Eyo Nsa Ekpo in his remarks lauded the former Commissioner of Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong for identifying with the group. He noted that APC is one indivisible family in Cross River State as the Old or new APC only exist as fiction.

Nsa Ekpo who was inaugurated into Federal Board of National Productivity Centre as a member representing South South in 2018 called on other Legacy members of APC to embrace “project Asuquo Ekpenyong” for betterment of Cross River State. I want to assure you all that we are on the right track and as such we should maintain the pace if we are ready to win the race.

Also Speaking, Barr Mrs Maria Ukpanyang who happens to be the leader of APC in Ekori Anaku Ward and also a legacy member of APC disclosed that Asuquo Ekpenyong meant every word he said when it comes to uniting the party and recognizing the impact of foundation members. “I emerged the Leader of the Ward against a strong opposition even from his Political allies who believed I was not qualify to lead the Ward. I’m sure because of me he has created Political enemies for himself in my Ward. I stand here today to commit myself to this project and I urge you all to follow suit.
