"Building a Brighter Future: Senator Ekpenyong's BUILD-A-THON Empowers 267 Young Innovators"

In Calabar, Nigeria, the constituency office of Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, successfully concluded a 4-day BUILD-a-Thon Digital Boot Camp for youths.

During the closing ceremony, The Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Mr. Ted Inyang congratulated parents, guardians, and participants on completing the boot camp.

He urged parents to "Continue supporting their children's interest in technology and innovation, providing resources and opportunities for skill development, and celebrating their achievements.

Mr. Inyang also encouraged participants to further explore and develop their technology and innovation skills. 

Mr. Patrick Ndifon, representing the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, led by Hon. Dr. Bosun Tijani, expressed gratitude to all involved.


He stated that "The BUILD-a-Thon has provided a platform for young minds to explore technology and sown seeds for a brighter future, where Nigeria's youth will lead in digital transformation."


Ndifon announced the upcoming introduction of a Code Club, expanding across multiple states by 2025, to provide continuous learning, innovation, and application opportunities for young students. 


He emphasized the importance of parental support in empowering children to become innovators and problem-solvers.

The boot camp culminated with Senior High School learners programming simple LED lights using Raspberry PI, Scratch, and Python to power traffic lights, fireflies, breathing hearts, train stations, and other smart projects.

While Junior High School learners were taught to build simple block games, arcade games, quiz games, and animations.
