My Legislative Agenda provides the direction that i intend to take to achieve my goals over the next four years, but I will also be responsive to the changes in the needs and expectation of my people should such arise. I will discharge my duties of law making, oversight and representation to the best of my ability.

I am committed to our collective drive to build a better and more inclusive Cross River Southern Senatorial district.

1 GOOD ROADS

I will use the Office of Senator to bring Federal attention to the deplorable roads in our Senatorial District, particularly the roads that are under the supervision of the Federal Government. Priority attention will be placed on the Calabar to Ekang, Calabar to Itu and Calabar to Ogoja Federal Highways. I am of the firm belief that if these roads are upgraded to internationally recognised best standards, it will significantly boost economic activities in all 7 LGAs of the district and enhance commerce across the state and indeed the South South region.

2 EMPLOYMENT/ENTREPRENEURSHIP

I believe that there are multiple strategies that can be deployed to tackle the menace of unemployment in the Southern Senatorial district. One of such is the optimal utilisation of the under used Calabar Seaport. Achieving this will create an economic revolution, the impact of which will be felt across the Senatorial District. Several job opportunities will be created and a new generation of entrepreneurs will emerge. I also believe that several opportunities exist for the employment of our people in Federal agencies, opportunities that are not fully being taken advantage of at the moment. I will ensure that all job opportunities that are available for the district will be pursued vigorously and share equitably within the 7 LGAs.

3 AGRICULTURE

Our people are historically agrarian by vocation. The challenge we have is the inability to move the majority of farmers from subsistence farming into a more productive form of agricultural practice. I will seek to achieve this by helping to facilitate the provision of grants that will help our farmers expand their current operations and begin new ones; provision of farming inputs of the improved variety that will contribute to a larger harvest and in a shorter time frame; and agricultural equipment that will assist in mechanised farming. I will achieve this by continuous engagement with Federal agencies, International Development Partners, and both local and foreign research institutions.

4 EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS

My goal is to redefine the concept of empowerment programs and take it beyond the provision of basic transportation vehicles and agricultural items. I believe that the world has greatly evolved and our young people have to be equipped with the skills to not only survive, but thrive in this digital economy. I will ensure that programs that provide skills in computer programming, computer hardware operations, and several other digitally based skills that are sought for across the globe are provided to the youth of the Southern Senatorial district. This will enable our people offer services to clients resident in any part of the world and earn revenues, even in foreign currencies.

5 BURSARY PAYMENTS

I believe that it is the right of every single young person in the Southern Senatorial district to attend an institution of learning. I also realise that students and prospective students, of higher Institutions in particular, often have challenges with meeting their financial obligations. I will ensure that every year, at the least, we will support as many students and prospective students of higher institutions with an amount of money to assist with ameliorating their financial responsibilities to these institutions.
