The 10th Senate is Open to Promoting Bills that will Engender Stronger Economic Growth---- Senate President.


The Nigerian Senate yesterday at the 16th Annual Banking and Finance Conference Dinner organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) declared her readiness to work with the banking and finance community to strengthen Nigeria's Economy.


This was made known by the Senate President, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio represented by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong. According to him, the gathering allows industry experts to brainstorm and articulate real strategies for engendering inclusive, sustainable growth of Nigeria's Economy.


He disclosed that the theme, Nigeria's Economic Growth and Empowerment: the role of the Financial Services Industry aligned very well with the focus of the incumbent administration and the 10th Senate in the deliberate effort to rejig the national economy and bring it to the point where it will serve the interest of the country and renew the Hope of Nigerians by restoring Nigerians to a state of well beings where they are capable of serving the needs of their families and also achieving their personal growths and developmental plans


"Accordingly the implication of this vision is that we have to take difficult and painful decisions that will assure us a better tomorrow. The journey towards economic recovery has begun as we need the Banking and Finance community to play central roles in guaranteeing access to credit for Nigerian businesses, risk management, transparent capital allocation, facilitate jobs creation, create and sustain transparent and effective payments systems; he said.


Senator Akpabio said the 10th Senate remains readily available to partner with the institutes and the banking sector to promote bills and pass laws that will engender stronger economic growth.


Nigeria’s Vice President, His Excellency Kashim Shettima had earlier called on every stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu current efforts aimed at returning the economy on the path of inclusive growth.


Present at the event were, His Excellency Abubakar Bagudu, Honorable Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, Ade Shonubi, Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Shubham Chaidhuri, World Bank Country Director, amongst several Managing Directors of Banks, CEOs of Financial Institutions etc.
