This is a momentous occasion that heralds the beginning of a new chapter in our state's history, and we are honoured to be able to witness it.
As a young man, I had the privilege of witnessing first hand your dedication to public service and your unwavering commitment to the people of our State.
The eight years you spent in the House of Representatives and four in the Senate, endeared you to our people and earned you the sobriquet “Sweet Prince.” I have no doubt that you will continue to serve with distinction as our Governor and will work tirelessly to improve the lives of our citizens.
Please know that you have my full support and cooperation as you undertake this significant responsibility.
I look forward to working with you to address the many challenges facing the Southern Senatorial District and to build a brighter future for all of our citizens.
I will also be seeking your advice and counsel on a regular basis as I try to fill the huge shoes you have left behind, when I am inaugurated into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
